Holy shit. I just finished listening to a very intense world have your say broadcast from Harlem. Gentrification. Racism. Slavery. All these black folks making their voices heard, and 3 or 4 ignorant and predictable "why can't we all get along" and "why don't black folks stop whining and do something" comments by listeners from...guess where...PORTLAND!! Listen to the show, it made me sweat.

Friday night I went to see the Coup (yes, again) and Lyrics Born, and as we were leaving I saw Boots, and went up to him and give him a cool casual hug, thanked him for the show and walked away. And my girl who was walking behind me, witnessed the whole exchange and said that he was checking me out as I walked away.

Yeah, I can only dream....BUT I HUGGED BOOTS RILEY!!!

What do you do when you've lost your lube?

When you know that somewhere in this home there is a little lost 3/4 empty bottle of Liquid Silk, but you can't find it. But you know it's in the house, and you know that it will be found at some point, just not necessarily by you. Damn.

Day three...I'm mad exhausted, but in a very good way. Got up this morning and dropped the princess of at the kids club (this is a "family" cruise so they have an pretty good mix of things to do onboard for big and little people), and headed into Costa Maya. Mostly it's just a touristy shopping area, but there was a beach and food and booze. Chilled in a hammock for a while taking in the sea, and pretending I was on a secluded beach. Bought a bunch of stuff for the princess, then headed back on to the ship to pick up the girl, eat lunch and then head back out to catch our bus out to Delphinus.

I can't even think of the right words to explain our dolphin swim. Intensely AMAZING!! Rediculously awesome!! Each group had a dolphin that they got to hang out with. Ours was a 12 year old male named Dzul (Mayan for "prince"). Dzul felt different than I thought he would. Almost like wet leather. Imagine watching the dolphins do tricks at some place like Sea World...but instead of watching from afar...you're in the water with him. Dzul did tricks, gave us high fives, took pictures giving us each a kiss on the cheek. And we got to just swim around and pet him. Dolphins are amazing!!! I have a whole new respect for them.

Tomorrow morning we pull into Cozumel. I don't know what we will be doing. We thought about going snorkeling, but after our adventure today, I'd be perfectly content just hanging out on the beach and relaxing.

I might even get a massage.

Day two at sea has been much better. Fantastic actually. My motion sickness seems to have mellowed. We pulled into Belize this morning, and around noon took a boat to shore (the docks are in shallow water, so the cruise ships have to anchor off land and then you take a ferry in). We took a van tour of the city of Belize and some of the country, and did a little shopping. Dreadlocked tourists are not a common sight, (I'm "sista" and the princess is "baby") so the princess and I got a lot of attention. My only complaint for today is that I wish we had more time. One day I will have to take a trip to Belize, and stay for a while.

Tomorrow the princess and I are going to swim with dolphins in Costa Maya, Mexico!!! Swimming with DOLPHINS!!! Fuck yeah!!!

I go to see X Men III last night!!! cuz my new luva is cool like that and gets press passes to advance screenings and shit. I could be a bitch and spoil it all for ya...but I won't.

It's frickin' MAD snowing right now!!

My brother is in the hospital again. This is the third time in a month. Today it was because he was so fatigued that he could barely move...literally couldn't get out of the bed in the morning. What my mom hadn't told me earlier is that my brother has been dealing with serious fatigue for the past year, that he hasn't been able to work a full day, and that he has cut back on most of the other activities that he used to do (like playing soccer).

My brother is not very good at full disclosure when it comes to questions about his families health history. We have a pretty extensive history (I really hope that the princess got a full dose of her dad's genes as far as family health is concerned), but I would think that it might be pretty important for them to know that he has a sister who has MS. His MRI came back clear, but...serious fatigue; heart problems when there is nothing wrong with his heart; something that was like a seizure but from the tests that were later run, wasn't. Sounds like something neurological to me.

My mom is going to Michigan sometime in the next couple of days to make sure that he does not leave the hospital until some progress is made in figuring out what is wrong.

Did Lionel get some work done, or do black folks just age fabulously? Ya, gotta admit, he's lookin pretty fine for a 60ish man. Laugh if you want, I have much love for Mr. Richie...forget that dancing on the ceiling shit....brick house ya'll...brick house!

Shit just would never have been as funny if it hadn't have been for him. Most of the jokes were over our head, but my brother and I used to sit in the basement clutching our sides listening to Pryor records. His life was hard and messed up, but he made it all funny.

I finally have a little creative space! It's in a corner in the princess's room. This is a pretty big thing for me to have put this little space together. My plan is that it will get used. My hope is that I will stop making excused for not doing anything creative.

From talking to folks today, and watching the news, it seems that Portland is about to be plunged into the next ice age! I will most likely bite my tongue for snickering at the constant reports on the possible weather to come...and the mad dashes to the store to stock up on survival gear. But I can't help but be continuously amused by westerners reaction to snow.

sazrah...THANK YOU for the present! It came today. I wish I had taken a picture of her opening the package, but it went something like...her looking at the puzzle box, quickly figuring out what it was, yelling "WOW this is so cool!" and hugging it. You really made her day. She started putting it together...I'll try to remember to take a picture of her working on her puzzle. And what a perfect gift to get from a nurse!

I had no intention of watching the show, but OMG tonight's Trading Spouses was the funniest fucking thing that I have ever seen!

There's no good way to make severe cuts in my friends list. It's something that always leads to hurt feelings, and drama and whatever. But LJ is becoming more like a burden as I either feel guilty for being unable to keep up with what is going on with everyone, or spend time that I don't have trying to keep up.

So either, I delete this whole thing...or I cut my friend list down to a managable level.
